Rashid Khan Arman is one of the youngest players in the Afghan cricket team and started playing for the team at an age of 17. Hailing from Jalalabad near Afghanistan and 10 siblings cheering him on, Rashid Khan is among the top players in the Afghan cricket team and is an exceptional right-arm leg break bowler and a right handed batsman. At a young age, his family fled to Pakistan during the ‘Afghan War’ and when things settled down, they returned to their home ground.

Rashid Khan’s Career in International Cricket

Rashid made his first class debut in December of 2016 playing for Afghanistan against England Lions and showed exceptional performance skills at the meager age of 18 by managing to take 4 wickets. His legbreak googly managed to keep the batsmen on their toes and it created a promising start to a flourishing cricket career. During the Cricket World Cup Qualifier in March 2018, he was the captain of the Afghanistan team making him the youngest player to captain a team, especially in international matches at the age of 19 years and 165 days. During the final of the very same series, he broke previous records and became the fastest and the youngest bowler to take the 100 wickets in ODI. The most striking performance of Rashid was in the ODI against Ireland in which he managed to take 5 wickets in a single match and became the reason for Afghanistan’s victory. With his lethal bowling skills and stump to stump line balls, he is surely an asset to the Afghanistan cricket team and has single handedly managed to bring the team back on the radar.

  • He became the second highest wicket taker in the 2017 IPL season by taking 11 wickets in 7 matches

 

Career in IPL

Rashid Khan is rightly named as the “Million Dollar Baby” as he was bought for the 2017 IPL for the team of Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping Rs. 4 crore and shared the dressing rooms with international icons such as David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson and so on. He became the second highest wicket taker in the 2017 season by taking 11 wickets in 7 matches. In the 2018 IPL, he played his 100th T20 match and managed to be the man of the match on May 5, 2018.

 

Career in CPL

Rashid was selected for the Caribbean Premier League for $60,000 for Guyana Amazon Warriors and left everyone stunned by bagging his first hat-trick and made it a match winning factor.  He took a total of 14 wickets in 12 games at the 2017 CPL but didn’t get much chance to bat. However, he was among the top spinners in the 2017 CPL and has managed to live up to his reputation since.

 

Career in PSL

In November, he was signed for the Quetta Gladiators for the 2018 Pakistan Super League. Showing exceptional performance in more than 100 T20 matches within a period of 2 years clearly shows the potential of the player with more opportunities to come his way.

 

Career in BBL

In September, 2017 he signed for Adelaide Strikers to play in the 2017-18 Big Bash League and eventually led to victory in the BBL.
