The Draft Story – Islamabad Team for 2018

The powerful team of the Islamabad United emerged as they victors of the first season of the Pakistan Super League, and they are anticipated to delight their fans with a strong performance for the third season as well. During the PSL Draft, the Islamabad United retained Misbah-ul-Haq as the skipper, and decided to add eight other players for the final PSL 2018 Islamabad United team.

Key Players in the Team

These players include, West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell, who was opted out last year due to a doping test ban, along with West Indian leg-spinner Samuel Badree, and the famous Shadab Khan, a leg-spinner who boosts a powerful reputation. The team also added Pakistani seamer Mohammad Sami, Asif Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Rumman Raees and Amad Butt.

Whereas in PSL 2018 Draft, Islamabad United selected JP Duminy, the South African all-rounder, as their Platinum pick, along with former Australian and Kiwi keeper Luke Ronchi. The Pakistani all-rounder Faheem Ashraf was selected as the Gold pick, along with Zafar Gohar and England keeper-batsman Sam Billings.

Emerging and Supplementary Players

The PSL 2018 Islamabad United Team selected Hussain Talat and Sahibzada Farhan as their two emerging players, while the supplementary players who will be seen playing a few games include, fast bowler David Willey, England’s hard-hitting batsman Alex Hales and Pakistan players Mohammad Husnain and Mohammad Hassan.

Wasim Akram and Waqar Younus

Moreover, here’s an extremely exciting news for the fans of Islamabad United. Waqar Younis has also decided to join the Islamabad United Squad for PSL 2018. We will see him acting as their fast bowling coach. Earlier Wasim Akram was also a part of this team, however, he decided to be a part of Multan Sultans this season. Wasim Akram’s departure can be seen as a huge loss, as he was the mentor of the Islamabad United squad.

This time the team owners have selected some talented and experienced minds to lead the team. Shoaib Akhtar is going to the bowling coach for Islamabad United, while Australian Dean Jones will act as the head coach.

Islamabad United Squad 2018 – Expectations

The Islamabad United team PSL 2018 poses itself as the most multi-talented and perfectly balanced team led by a team of extremely talented and gifted coaches. Needless to say, this team is highly expected to knock out the other teams with a brilliant performance.

Islamabad United Team 2018 – The Bottom Line

The Islamabad united were extremely cautious with their player selection. Learning from last year’s mistakes and tactics, the team decided to make some major changes in their line-up. Many players were dropped and new ones brought on board. Among the players who made the final cut is Misbah ul Haq, also the team captain. It is surprising how efficiently he managed to navigate the different games last year and we are expecting no less from him this year either. His planning and match strategies are superior and he has a core understanding of all the major players, something that can give Islamabad the edge over other teams.

Of course, in the end, it is really about how the teams perform together. The different players need to figure out a chemistry and a routine in order to play together as a team. This is one of the prerequisites for good team play.

The Islamabad United Squad 2018 has managed to scrape some notable names of the industry and we are waiting for their performance in the upcoming PSL 2018 match.
