The Multan Sultans franchise was introduced to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in 2017, becoming the sixth team to join the league. The team represents the city of Multan in southern Punjab, a region known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance in Pakistan.

Initially, the franchise was bought by Schön Properties for a sum of $41.6 million, making it one of the most valuable teams in the PSL.
