Pakistan Super League 2018 Teams and Players

Before we get into the details of the PSL 2018 teams, lets first give you an overview of the basic theme of the teams and the rules. There are 6 teams in the PSL and each team is allowed to retain 9 players. Initially, there were 5, but this year around, there are 6 added into the mixture to represent the 6 major cities of Pakistan. There is a mix of players in each team. Pakistani players take up places to represent their home city. The other players are usually foreign and are individually paid about $10000 for every PSL 2018 match that they play.


Quetta Gladiators

The Quetta Gladiators made some wise decisions for their PSL 2018 squad and is welcoming Shane Watson and Carlos Brathwaite from the platinum and the diamond rounds. Playing beside them will be some other Pakistani names including Rahat Ali, Saad Ali, Saud Shakeel, Raja Jr, and Hassan Khan. The Quetta gladiators also went with the supplementary round and managed to get Jason Roy, Azam Khan, Faraz Ahmed and Rashid Khan all of which are some pretty decent players.


Islamabad United

Next up, the Islamabad united chose all of their 20 players and ended up with some pretty remarkable picks. They got their hands on JP Duminy, the all-rounder from South Africa during the platinum round. Later on they moved to pick Luke Ronchi and Fahim Ashraf who is a Pakistani all-rounder as well as England’s excellent batsmen Sam Billings. Moving on, the Uniteds also chose Zafar Gohar, Hussain Talat, and the renowned Sahibzada Farhan later and during the supplementary round opted for some value picks. Likewise, the Karachi Kings weren’t far behind with their line up as well they managed to get some pretty good names to their credit too. They opted for Imad Wasim as the captain and added some valuable names to the team. These include Collin Ingram, superb batsman from South Africa, Mitchell Johnson, the Australian super-fast bowler Luke Right to take advantage of some of his hard-hitting capabilities. They also have David Wiese the South African all-rounder among their presenting team members.

The Peshawar Zalmi came first last year, which means they won’t be incorporating many changes in their lineup. However, they did make some big moves this year and the batting line up is stronger than ever. Their PSL 2018 players name include the West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. They also added Tamim Iqbal, Saad Nasim as well as Hammad Azam. If they weren’t enough, the Zalmi went on to procure some great emerging players including Taimoor Sultan, Ibtisam Sheikh as well as Sameen Gul.

Down to the last round, the supplementary round resulted in Andre Fletcher, Evin Lewis, Muhammad Arif and Khalid Usman joining the stunning group. Of course, supplementary aren’t expected to play but then again, Zalmi has some great choices if ever the need arises.

For the Lahore Qalandars it seemed as if money wasn’t on their side as they only made it to the third player during the supplementary round and had to leave out one player, due to insufficient finances. Hence, the final line of the Qalandars contained 19 players.

The Lahore Qalandars went into the trough first and were the first team to get their hands on a platinum player, the expensive Aussie player, Chris Lynn may perform exceptionally but he did cost the Lahoris and player from the supplementary round. The Lahore Qalandars went on to pick Brendon McCullum and Mustafizur Rehman. They also chose Raza Hasan, Sohail Akhtar, Ghulam Mudassar as well as Shahheen Afridi. As for the supplementary round, the Lahoris could only choose 3 players due to limited finances and these included Angelo Mathews, Mitchell McClengen, and Gularaiz Sadaf.


Multan Sultans

Finally, it’s all about the new team, the Multan sultans who are joining us for the first time in season 3 of the Pakistan super league. For first timers, they have done pretty well. They chose Imran Tahir to bat in the middle order of their PSL 2018 squad, went for Darren Bravo and Ahmed Shehzad as strong batsmen. They also chose Muhammad Abbas and Ncholous Pooran to strengthen the team. Finally, Abdullah Shafiz and Saif Badar were also introduced from the emerging round. As for the supplementary round, Multan opted for Umar Gul, Hardus Vilijoen, Umar Siddiq and Ross Whitely to represent their team.


What’s New About PSL 2018 Teams

Some interesting developments have surfaced, however. Shahid Afridi has decided that he will no longer be laying for his home team, the Peshawar Zalmi. Lala has opted to leave his home team for the Karachi Kings PSL 2018 squad full time. It will certainly be very exciting to see Shahid Afridi playing on a different turf and even more exciting to see how Karachi makes use of this valuable player.

Furthermore, the Legendary Inzamam-ul-haq is expected to come back. In an interesting piece of news, it is expected that Inzamam-ul-haq will, in fact, be joining the Lahore Qalandars this year. This certainly is an interesting turn of events. We can’t wait to see how the different placements and team members correlate and interact in the matches to come.

As the Pakistan super league 2018 comes near than ever before, people are eager to find more and more about the details of this year’s teams. The rules of the game, the schedules, the venue and so much more. Of course, when cities are put up against one another in such a big stand off as the PSL things are bound to get heated up for sure. Every city has their eye on their team members as well as the other team players. After all, we do need to analyze what we are up against. As is this year, there are a considerable amount of changes to each thing. Hence, it is a great idea to familiarize yourself with all the PSL 2018 teams before the big series starts.

The actual members of each team were announced in a splendid ceremony in Lahore on November 12th of 2017. The names were disclosed after the SL draft and to everyone’s surprise had some major changes. It seems like all the teams have strengthened their grounds and have revamped their line up for both a better batting as well as a balling position. PSL Teams Players’ salaries

Clearly, from the different PSL 2018 players name list, each team has found some big gunners and we are excited to see how they all perform as a team. the players did cost a lot though. Just to give an estimate here are some of the salary costs of different players from the different rounds.


Platinum Category

The platinum players for the PSL 2018 teams squad will receive a staggering $140000 to $230000.


Diamond Category Players

While the diamond category players will receive $75000 to $80000 salary.


Gold Players

The golds aren’t far behind with a salary of $50000 to 60000.


Silver Players

Following them closely are the silver players taking up to $22000 to $33000 salary while the emerging category is for $10000 to $12000.


Foreign Players Salaries in PSL

Besides this, each foreign player will also be paid a sum for each PSL 2018 match they play. According to PCB, each foreign player will be paid an additional $10000 for each PSL match they play.

Moreover, PCB has decided to increase the number of players in the PSL 2018 teams to 21. The last team member will be a new recruit that is to be found through talent shows and will be featured in the matches. This is a step to promote cricket in the country and find new players that could potentially highlight Pakistani cricket in the world.


PSL Teams Draft 2018

In the draft, every team can have up to 11 additional players to their credit so that they can shuffle their players according to the match. The draft is basically organized in a number of different rounds, including the platinum, diamond, gold and the silver rounds. The area also the emerging player round and the supplementary player round. Of course, each player has a price and as they go through different rounds, they have to spend their purse and choose the ones they think are right for their team and the ones they think that they can afford.
